Maxine Doyle – Associate Director, Punchdrunk & Co-Creator, Sleep No More (UK)

A dancer and choreographer by training, Maxine Doyle began her collaboration with Punchdrunk Theatre’s artistic director, Felix Barett in 2003, creating the original Sleep No More production, together with sound designer Stephen Dobbie. This game-changing, immersive re-telling of Macbeth has had an extended life in New York where it continues to provide a transformative experience for audiences.

Maxine is currently Punchdrunk’s Associate Director and Choreographer, playing a key role in creating large-scale sensory theatrical worlds that reject the passive obedience usually expected of audiences.

Maxine’s work combines an intense physicality with an obsession for character and non-linear storytelling. In 1996, she formed First Person Dance Company and began creating small scale touring works.

Maxine is a regular principal artist at Springboard Dance Montreal and works with the likes of Verve Dance Company, Martha Graham Dance Company and the B12 festival in Berlin. She also teaches workshops internationally.
