Helen Simondson – Head of ACMIX and Special Projects, ACMI

Helen is the Head of ACMIX and Special Projects at the Australian Centre for Moving Image (ACMI) and is responsible for overseeing ACMIX the first museum-led co-working space in Australia. ACMIX is a vibrant 60 seater space for Industry residents who work alongside ACMI staff. An Industry program is delivered to residents and a broader ACMI X Industry membership that includes meetups, business upskilling workshops and creative tech talks. This year ACMIX delivered ACMI Xcel a Creative Industries Business Bootcamp and Accelerator that was focused on Creative Tech, and offered participants intensive mentoring and business coaching.

Helen’s undergraduate qualifications are in Drama and Dance from Deakin University and Post-Graduate qualifications in Film and TV from the Victorian College of the Arts. She has worked as an arts practitioner and producer on various theatre, dance and film projects over the years including a dance on film collaboration with the Australia Council and the ABC. Co-creative media practice is also a specialist area of expertise and Helen has published widely on community media.

Helen is an alumnus of the Asialink Leadership and Museum Leadership program and has served as a board member on several small to medium arts organisation over the last fifteen years.
