This year’s summit theme ‘Creativity in a post-truth world’ will provoke delegates to think about the role creative practitioners, organisations and institutions can play in influencing, reflecting and interpreting our times.
Speakers will examine bold new ideas and case studies, emerging trends and technology, and invite delegates to consider how they can build their skills, transform their practice, organisation or sector, and create new connections.
Creativity explores new ideas, new perspectives and new frontiers and this year’s summit will investigate:

The Creative State Summit returns to Melbourne this June with a direct call for Victorian creatives to step up, be heard and make an impact.
The 2018 Summit will tackle the theme of “creativity in a post truth world”. It will explore how our creative sector can help influence and shape public discourse, the role of artists and creative practitioners as activists, and the power of creativity to respond to society’s most challenging issues.
The Summit will also explore the role of cultural institutions, such as museums and libraries, as a source of authenticity.
An initiative of our Creative State strategy, the Summit is an annual gathering of creative practitioners and organisations from far and wide to help shape our policy and put it into practice.
Creative State takes a whole-of-state, whole-of-ecosystem approach, with a strong focus on strengthening the small-to-medium and independent players that drive our creative sectors.
This Summit is just one of the ways we are amplifying Victoria’s creative voices, backing artistic development and boosting the capacity of our creative sectors.
Last year more than 400 people attended the two-day event packed with forums, discussions and networking events.
This is an exciting opportunity to build connections with others from across the arts, cultural, design, digital games, fashion and screen sectors.
I encourage you to add to the conversation – as a speaker or a participant.
I look forward to working with you all to help shape our Creative State.
— Martin Foley, Minister for Creative Industries
The Creative State summit has been produced for Creative Victoria by REMIX Summits, who run a series of global events that bring together pioneers from different industries to explore the future of culture, creative cities and the creative economy.
